Your AI Agents Have an Expiration Date. Here’s the Risk Nobody’s Watching
Forbes Technology Council — June 17, 2026
The big idea: When an employee who set up an AI agent leaves your company, the agent doesn’t clock out. It keeps working — with live credentials, broad permissions, and zero human oversight. Security experts are calling these “ghost agents,” and most enterprises already have them.
Michael Engle, cofounder of 1Kosmos (and former InfoSec head at Lehman Brothers), lays out a chillingly simple scenario: A finance automation agent kept reconciling accounts for months after its creator left the company. It wasn’t malfunctioning — but the business context had changed, and nobody knew it was still running.
Four ways ghost agents can hurt you:
| 💰 |
Financial damage — Agents tied to procurement or cloud keep spending. One case: cloud costs stayed elevated after projects ended because agents kept provisioning resources. |
| 🔓 |
Security exposure — Broad permissions persist after the owner leaves. Ghost agents don’t trigger behavioral anomaly alerts the way a human user would. |
| 📋 |
Compliance failures — When an auditor asks “Who authorized this automated decision?” the answer points to a departed employee. That breaks SOC 2, GDPR, and internal controls. |
| 📢 |
Reputational damage — Customer-facing agents run on stale logic, promoting expired offers or discontinued products. |
The fix: Shift from identity registration (who owns this agent?) to runtime authorization (should this agent be acting right now?). Every action gets evaluated in real time against current policy and owner status. If the owner is inactive, the agent loses access — a kill switch.
Why this matters for your business: As AI agents multiply — handling invoices, customer support, lead follow-up — every one of them is a potential orphan. Before deploying your next AI Employee, ask: who decommissions it when roles change?

Convey Raises $38M to Let Non-Technical Teams Build AI Teammates in 3 Hours
SiliconANGLE — June 17, 2026
Andreessen Horowitz led a $38M Series A into Convey, a startup that lets non-technical workers design, build, and run autonomous AI “teammates” — no coding required. CEO Rohan Chopra (ex-DoorDash) says they “parachute in, help teams stand up their AI workforce, and hand the controls back.” One streaming service freed up 23,000+ hours annually on reporting workflows. Onboarding time: ~3 hours per AI teammate.

AWS Summit NYC: Agent Tasks Up 15x in 6 Months — and Netskope Just Built the Guardrails
AWS / GlobeNewswire — June 17, 2026
AWS revealed that tasks performed by agents on Bedrock AgentCore grew 15x in the past six months — PGA Tour, Nasdaq, Visa, and Experian are all scaling. At the same Summit, Netskope announced its AI Guardrails will integrate with AgentCore, applying deterministic enforcement at the gateway. As Netskope CPO John Martin put it: “The agentic era requires the same security rigor for software agents that we’ve always applied to human users.” AWS also launched Continuum (AI-native code security) and Context (auto-building knowledge graphs).

Jeff Bezos: AI Won’t Replace Humans — It Will Create a Labor Shortage
VivaTech, Paris — June 17, 2026
Speaking at VivaTech in Paris, Jeff Bezos delivered the most counter-intuitive AI prediction of the year: “I totally disagree with the view that AI will make humans redundant. AI is going to create a labor shortage.”
The logic: AI doesn’t eliminate work — it shifts what work looks like, and the demand for new kinds of human labor will outstrip supply. It’s a provocative frame, especially coming from the founder of Amazon, which has trimmed ~30,000 corporate roles partly due to AI efficiency gains.
Bezos also shared updates on Prometheus, his AI startup that’s raised over $18 billion to build an “artificial general engineer” capable of designing and manufacturing complex physical products. Backers include JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and BlackRock.
Bottom line: The world’s second-richest man is betting billions that AI will create more jobs than it destroys — but they’ll be different jobs. The question for business owners: are you preparing your team for that shift, or just bracing for cuts?

SpaceX Cements $60B Cursor Deal — The Largest AI Startup Acquisition Ever
TechCrunch / Bloomberg — June 16, 2026
Days after its historic IPO, SpaceX formalized its $60 billion all-stock acquisition of Cursor, the AI coding agent startup. It’s the largest startup acquisition in history. The deal arms Elon Musk’s AI division (built around xAI) to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic — turning AI coding agents into strategic infrastructure. Cursor was previously valued at ~$29B; the $60B price tag reflects the premium on AI agent capabilities. The deal is expected to close in Q3 2026.

G7 Leaders Sit Down with Altman, Amodei, and Hassabis — AI Is Now Geopolitics
Crypto Briefing — June 17, 2026
OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, and Google DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis joined a working lunch with G7 leaders at the Evian summit in France. The meeting underscores a new reality: AI governance is now a top-tier geopolitical issue. Tensions are rising — US restrictions on Anthropic’s advanced models have frustrated European allies, with France pushing for “tech sovereignty.” Macron personally invited Altman. The risk: a fragmented global AI ecosystem splitting into competing regulatory blocs.
